  • New Jackson SDX - fret buzz

Hi everyone. I received a new Jackson SDX today. It has pretty bad fret buzz starting at the 7th fret upwards. The FR is already raised about 1/8th of an inch off the body. I checked the neck relief and it does have a bit. The normal relief I usually set on all my guitars. Any ideas what I can do?

I set my necks straight, no relief. I have never worried though about how high off the body a trem is, but string height I do.

Since it's a brand new guitar, I'm wondering if I should just return it.

new guitars are often shipped in need of a setup.
do the setup. if it still buzzes, then make a decision.

            Get a setup done.
As for the trem, it's a top mount, it will not be sitting directly on the body.
You can slam it down if you want, but you'll need to adjust the neck angle before you do that.
