  • 2006 Jackson Soloist SL3

    Hello all,
I have a SL3 which was the first year of the black hard ware from Chrome and an upgraded bridge.
I have owned it since brand new back in 2006 and don't really play it much anymore. It just sits in it's case and it's in like new condition. I have considered selling it many times but never pulled the trigger as it's a sweet guitar.

I may sell it or I may keep it. If I keep it I would like to change out the TB4 in the bridge position with something else more aggressive but yet will blend very nicely with the 2 Hot Rails in the middle and Neck position.
When I compare this guitar to my 3 Charvels with JB Pickups in them, this guitar seems a bit darker sounding. I'm assuming it's the wood used and the neck though body design. I think it's a Moghany Body vs the Alter on all 2 of my Charvels (2013 and 2016). my 2016 Charvel has a Distortion and I don't know if that would be a good choice for this guitar or not. Again this is only if I decide to keep it as I think I want to sell it and buy another Charvel.

Another question would be what should I sell it for if I do? It retailed for $1599 . It's in near brand new shape with no marks or damage of any kind. It's been in it's case all of it's life except when played. It's only left my house for Setups and 1 jam at a friends house. It's kept in a climate controlled room , It has it's factory Jackson case and I have all the paper work it came with.
I was thinking around $800.00 as it's mint. I have seen less quality beat up older model SL3's sell for $500-$700 and I think mine is much better.

Problem with asking that for an import is USA models can be had in that ballpark for a patient buyer. Great time to buy, bad time to sell.

Did I misunderstand, or did you say the SL3 was mahogany?

If you change out the bridge go for a Duncan TB-5 Custom.

I have an SL3 and, IMO, the JB is the perfect pickup for the guitar. But if you're not keen on it I'd say Hellbat's idea is a good one, or a DiMarzio Super Distortion perhaps.
