  • Warmoth Neck for DK2M?

    Hey gang --

Getting about time for a fret dress on my 3-yr-old Pro Series Dinky. Anyone jump straight to a Warmoth replacement neck instead? Birdseye maple would be an upgrade on the stock maple, with a satin finish.

Any nits to look out for? Or is it pretty much slightly more involved than changing strings?

Thanks for any info and advice!

Warmouth has issues making necks for the J/C 24 fret 2 1/4" neck pocket, unless they fixed this.

I think the main reason for owning the DK24M is the neck.

If you're going to replace the neck, might as well just start over with a new guitar.

      I see.

The problem is that the maple DK2Ms I see used are in worse shape. Seems like still two options -- hope a fret job works out, hope that a new neck works out. Each has plusses and minuses. Decisions, decisions...

      Thanks.

Last I knew warmoth necks wont even work on a 24 fret dinky body. They use straight up strat/tele neck pockets. Dont matter if it's a 24 fret warmoth neck the other 3 frets are a hangover on the end and the DK neck isn't. It also is narrower to boot. There is some guys on ebay selling necks that are suppoed to fit but dont think the quality is there.
        It's pronounced soops

Yeah, basically. Short term I know I new neck would be more expensive, but then by rotating 2 necks after that, then hopefully I'm not spending $150+ every 3 years.
