  • Dinky prices

probably a dumb question, but since I got the soloist, now I've got my sites set on getting a used Blue Bengal dinky

is it going to be the same for the DK's as with the soloists, should I expect to pay 50% more because of the finish. I have found several ok base finish examples on CL for around $200-300, will I be lucky to find a dinged up one for $300-400?

another question, I've seen some DK2M's with maple board and what I'd call a natural headstock color, which is what I'm after, but I've also seen a couple on the net that have black headstocks. How many different bolt on neck models were available with the bb finish? or am I just seeing DK2M's that have had a neck replacement?

IF you could find a blue bengal Dinky used you'd probably be looking at closer to 450-500ish if its in great condition. Just based on the finish and how tough it seems to find it definitely costs more than the base colors, or even some of the other limited finishes (hot rod flames seem to be readily available at about the same price as used base color models). I've only ever seen The DK2M (dinky with maple fretboard) with the clear coated headstock with black Jackson logo.

I've seen a few on ebay, but they were like 800 BINs.

Good luck finding a blue bengal man.

Have you actually played a DK2? They do feel a little different from the Soloist - you might find you're wasting your money if you really love the Soloist, especially if you pay extra for a finish.

Yeah, before I found the soloist I found locally a blue ghost flame dk with rev headstock. I was tempted to buy it and kept going back to play it, but then I finally found my sl2h. The shop wants $650 for the ghost, I got my soloist for only $200 more, so that was a no brainer.

Yes, if I got a bbengal, it'd just be for looks. But that's why I started this thread. Ive found several so far that people want $650-1200!!! for used, and wanted to see if these people were in the group of people you always see on eBay with unrealistic expectations or if the combination of small production numbers and sought after finish makes it "the elusive blue Bengal" and therefore a higher price.

If it's the latter, then I won't be getting one, but if it's like the other DK s and I can
find one for under $300, then I'd get one as a nice knock around guitar

Anyway, I think I have my answer from the first reply.

You could try one of those "guitar wrap" things, some guys on here have done them and, from pics, they look pretty sweet. Get a cheap DK2M and put one of those on it for blue bengal!

yeah, I thought of that,I've just never been good at putting vinyl stickers on anything without getting bubbles. if I went that route, it might be something totally different. I see where you can upload your own design, maybe I could come up with something as legendary as stabbing poo or octo rape. or maybe experiment with some Iron Maiden or Megadeth graphics. HEY, Octo Mustaine Rape with a side of Eddie with dragon cock.

1200 for a new one on ebay. I mean, really the parts and construction of the guitar are NOT worth 1200. For that much money you could get a DK2M, upgrade to an OFR and if you were a little bit brave and had some time you could strip the paint and make your own blue bengal with better components than a factory blue bengal would, and save 400+ dollars compared to the 1200 they're asking on ebay.

I actually found one today at Alpha music for $400 with couple of minor dings,.... that gives me hope. basically I'll just keep checking ebay and CL every few days and I'll eventually find some poor soul that is desperate enough. Man, I sound evil,... preying on the misery of others to get a guitar that I think looks cool! Oh well, I can live with that

I bought that very guitar at Alpha Music yesterday (I live nearby). I got it with HSC for $325.

The two scratches are so miniscule that I'd rate the guitar a 9/10.

Here is a link to Alpha's ad for the actual guitar:

yeah, I thought the two dings/scratches were negligible,... I just have to find that deal within reasonable driving distance to save the shipping! congrats on the new tiger!

Man, I would have taken that for $400. Nice score!
