  • Good Price For a 1986 Model 2?

Hi all. The local Guitar Center has a 1986 Model 2 for sale at $399. It is a single pick up, pointy headstock with the "Fort Worth" neckplate. Is this a decent price? I really don't know much of anything about the import Charvels, but I thought it was a cool cheap guitar, and am thinking of buying it if the price is about right. Any info/opinions is appreciated. Thanks!

That's too much. $200 - $250 would be about right.

$399 is pretty high. Around $280 for a well kept Model 2 would be more like it. The JT-6 tremolo on the 1987-88 model is a better trem compared to the traditional fulcrum on the 1986 model (in my opinion). If you need more info and want to read up on these old imports, JCF is the best. But it can take a while to sift through the posts. You can use this link to have a fast and concise overview of the early Charvel imports: Charvel Japanese guitars 1986-1991.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the information. I'll try to talk down the Guitar Center price, and if they won't budge, I'll pass.
