  • Model Neck pocket stamp?

I have a Body that is stamped "Pro 3" in the neck pocket. It looks like a Fusion complete with battery holder. two knobs and a switch in between like a Fusion. Could it be a Fusion body or something else? I would think it would be stamped "FU-XX" right?

Is there a battery box or is there a clip in the main control cavity?

    If there's a battery box, I seriously doubt it's a Fusion.

Is the switch between the knobs a miniature toggle swith or a full-sized switch? Blade or toggle? How many pickups?
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

What's the serial number? The Fusions had a different serial scheme than the other Made In Japan (MIJ) Jacksons.

NEWC it is a battery clip inside the cavity and the switch is a mini toggle. There is also a 5 way switch in there that I am pretty positive is not original. I mean it had a 5 way switch but it has been replaced at some point.

KC the serial is that of a Fusion but I am not sure the neck is original to the guitar (or tha plate for that matter) that is why I was questioning the body. The serial is 300XXX making it a '93 if I am correct by research.

It has the lower bout cutaway as well like the Fusions (and other models have) but the Pro 3 stamp got me thinking maybe it was a later model with a Pro neck on it. The neck is the Professional Ebony board with shark inlays. But the original screw holes have been filled and re drilled on it leading me to believe it was not the original neck on this body.

I'll see if I can snap a few photos of the pocket stamp, cavity, and body in general later to post.

Thanks for the help so far!

The Fusions have a different serial number scheme than the rest of the 1990-1995 MIJ Jacksons. The Fusion serial in 1993 would look like 93xxxx. If you are not certain on the neck plate / neck being original using the serial number is thrown entirely out the window. See the Serial Number FAQ for more details: http://www.jcfonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101353

Good luck with the ID, half the fun is the research.

That's interesting. I read your post on the serials (very nice I might add) and I guess I would have to make an amendment (I think) to it.

            I own a Pro 1990 Fusion (90xxxx) a standard Fusion (92xxxx) the mystery guitar (30xxxx) and two HH Fusions (40xxxx and 50xxxx).

So, I am thinking the HH Fusions did not adhere to the 90 = 1990 rule OR at some point along the way Fusions were switched to the 40 = 1994 serial.

            Is this possible?

I guess I need to snap some photos of the mystery guitar and get them up for evaluation. I have not looked to see what the pocket of my 1990 Fusion reads but on the next string change I'll have a peek. It kind of looks like I might have a mutt of a guitar. That's not a bad thing, but I really would like to find out what the body is!

Awesome, this is the type of stuff I love to see. I have 17 Fusion serials that conform to the 90xxxx rule (all years represented...including two of my Fusions, an HH and an XL) and one from 1995 that does not (it's like yours). Any serial number outside a typical range I figure is a transition build (like for the 1995 they may have ran out of neck plates to finish off the Fusion series).

Anything is possible with Jackson import serial numbers, I know there are two different totally outside of the standard scheme serials floating here in the first page of the Import forum and I have a list of 7 others. Maybe I should stick a note before the guide that says something to the fact that "Some serial numbers do not conform to a standard and a serial number is a guide but not an absolute answer" etc.

Conforming to solid standards is not something I've noticed with Jackson import serial numbers
