                  Thank you for the info.
On the next setup I'll check the neck heel.
Serial says '96' by the way. So, according to the information I read in this forum, it might be a 1996 production.

Well, according to the us standard date format the first two digits are the month.
                    So, it's Oct. 7th, 2008.

                      Wow, this thread took off!

There's a few important things that can help here:

First, that 1990 Fusion Pro is a 1989. I've owned a few 1990 bolt-ons (USA and Pro), and they all started with 0.
For a 6-number serial on a neckplate, the first number is the last number of the year it was made. 1989=9 (as the Fusion above), 0=1990, 1=1991, 2=1992, 3=1993, 4=1994, 5=1995, 6=1996.
In 1996, Jackson gave almost everything a "96" serial, meaning the first 2 numbers of the serials were always "96". Usually there were only 6 numbers total, so that was "96" for the changeover and 4 for the rest of the number (i.e. "961234"). 7-number serials were started in the late 90s, and indicate Japanese manufacture. Anything that has more than 7 numbers is NOT made in Japan nor the USA.

J stickers on the headstocks indicate Made In Japan, no matter how many numbers it has, and was stopped sometime in the mid-late 90s (unless of course they've started using these again?), and was usually used on models that had no neckplate (mostly JTX models).
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

Thanks for clearing that up... my past research pointed me to '89 as well

This guitar is fast... faster than the USA models down at the Guitar shop that I've played on

Not for a bolt-on guitar. The 96xxxxx serials started in 1996, but continued on into the next century, before they rolled over to 97xxxxx. The post-1995 bolt-on serials are purely sequential and tell nothing of the production date. In fact, the only thing you can say about it, is that a 7-digit serial with a leading "9", is a guitar built in Japan.

This is correct. The date on the neck heels seem to follow the format "yyyy-mm-dd" (year, month, day).
