  • 1988 Model 5FX

    Does anyone know how many 5FX's were made and if all the Charvel paint colors were used?

    I have only seen Black, Electric Blue, Firecrackle, and I have a burgundy mist (pinkish).

    What are these worth? Are they more rare than the other "model" Charvels?

    I will post pictures of mine soon.

    I'm not sure of the number, but I don't think there were really that many made. At first, they were the Model 5A, which was just one humbucker, then some got eventually sent back to the factory to have the single coil added to the neck to become the 5FX, and some got added tone controls, some didn't.
    I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

      You've wrote about it five years ago

      So, maybe it was refinishing to burgundy mist?

            My guitar was never refinished. I bought it new from Sam Ash in 88/89. It is still in very nice condition. I took very good care of it and never played out with it. It is the metalic pink color.

                  300??????? Wow, that's freakin sweet
                  So I assume that is very rare for a Charvel....
                  I think I will hold on to it for a while.
                  Any pics of the pearl white one you have? That would be a sweet color for the 5fx. My first guitar was a pearl white model 2 I bought from Sam Ash that had a problem with it. I sent it back for an exchange, but they did not have any more model 2s at the time so they asked if I would be interested in one of the model 5fx's. I was like, ok - neck through. Glad I made that choice.

                          That's not a 5FX but a 550XL ! Built 1989/1990;

                          I can't say much about the value, but at least it's a Neckthrough Import Charvel with a JT-590 bridge !
