  • Duncan Custom or Dimarzio SuperIII

    or even dimarzio super distortion.
I am getting a model 2 that has an invaider and that pickup has to go.
I am trying to decide between these three pickups above.
I like each guitar that I have to be different so this is what I already have
    Model 6 -Jackson J50BC
    Ibanez RG320 - Dimarzio Evolution
    BC Rich Gunslinger-schaller
    Charvel San Dimas-blackout
    Jackson Dinky - tone zone
Jackson Dinky- Screamin demon(changing it to Armstrong ultra distortion)
peavey patriot- what ever it came with
    washburn x50-EMG 85
    ESP m1 mutt-seymour duncan distortion
I hate the invader and I think the custom 5 sounds like mudd.
I am scared to try the custom because SD makes it sound like the only difference between the sh5 and sh14 is the magnet.
I have had a dimarzio super distortion before and loved it.
    bad or good opinions please.

    Get an SD Custom Custom.
They kick ass in Basswood bodies.

I thought the SIII was bassy like an Invader. I don't know for sure - haven't tried either. I have an SIII for a Fender HM I'm restoring.

no matter the question, the answer is always the duncan custom.

The Super 3 gets my vote ! They're my second favorite passive pickup after Evolutions and I'll always have an S3 in at least one of my guitars.
I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.

I have used the Super Distortion for years in just about everything. I just put a Super 3 in one of my RGs, it works great for 80's metal, scooped mids, it wouldn't work so well for the more modern stuff. IMO

I hear that is a great pickup, but I am gasing for one of the three above.

Yes but the problem with the invader is that the treble side is a 4.
                    bass
                    invader - 7
                    custom - 7
                    super3 - 6.5
                    super d - 8
                    Tone zone - 8.5

Since this model 2 is an 86 with the fulcrum trem what is the pickup spacking?

I have a Model 2 that currently has an EMG 81. This thing cranks right now. But, before the EMG I had in a DiMarzio Super Dist. and I absoultely loved it in it also. It came to a point where I couldn't decide which to keep in there, they were both so good for straight up metal and 80's style metal (my style!) I think that I decided to keep in the EMG mainly because I didn't have too many EMG pickup guitars and had a few already with the DiMarzio SD in it. So, the EMG won out, but I would have been happy with either one! Hope this helps!
