  • i know its a 275 but is this a special model

i got this off of ebay to bring back to life.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=320153389310

its stamped with 275dx in the neck pocket but i cant seem to find its specs anywhere. its got 2 single coils right next to eachother in slant formation at the bridge and a straight single at the neck. one vol. and 3 way selector. any help is much appreciated

The 275 came out in 1989, but the 89 had a slant single coil in the neck position and a regular humbucker. The 90/91 model had the slanted singles in the bridge position. The one you bought is a 90/91, but the neck is fucked. But if it does ship with an actual JT-590 trem, it was a good deal.

    Here's an 89...

    And here's a 90/91

Nothing rare about it other than it was only around for only 3 years.
    Specs:
    Basswood body
    22 fret
    25.5 scale
    Trem: JT-6 (89) JT-590 (90/91)
    J-90C / J-100 pickups on the 89
Don't recall the pickup specs on he 90/91, but I think they are J-200's

Its a 275 deluxe with a sanded body and a chipped off headstock tip. Most likely a single locking trem too.

      Geez, beat me to it.

You're right.. this might have had a JT-570.
The catalog pic shows a JT-590, but I can't make out the saddles on the one in the auction.

cool thanks alot. i was wondering why i couldnt find it. i guess the guy had the wrong year. yeah that neck sucks, but i figure i'm gonna trim down the body a little maybe give it more of a fusion/soloist look and drop a jackson reverse headstock neck on it. single locking trem huh? well i havent even recieved it yet but i guess it wont matter if i replace the neck with a floyd nut right?

The single locking part is at the bridge, not the nut.
You will still need a lock nut on the neck.
If the trem has single locking saddles, you can replace them with Schaller saddles to make it double locking.

As for reshaping the body, a Dinky and a Soloist are the same body shape.
The 275 is a Dinky body.
The Fusion had the deeper cut away on the lower horn.
Browse the catalogs and you'll see what I mean.

Just remember.. you will need another 25.5" scale 22 fret neck. A 24 fret neck will not work.

Here is a side by side of my 275 and my 375. The 375 is a dinky and the 275 is bigger. Hope this helps.

The '89 275 was a full-size strat, for '90 & '91 it became a Dinky like all the other toothpaste logo models.

Ya learn something new everyday. I guess that makes mine an '89. Btw. I like the bigger body.

Its hard to tell what the trem is in the scan. But It also states single locking trem in the blurb next to the pics.

Fett's got one of them rare Chrome JT-6's.
Don't see too many of them around.
