Does anyone know what rating the stock volume pot it on the Model 2s? 250 or 500? Thanks-Jack.

rule of thumb-Humbuckers use 500K, single coils use 250K. It should be a 500.

Thank man!! I have heard though that some high ouput humbuckers like the JB sound better with 250K, any truth to this? Jack.

the 250K pot will give you a slightly warmer sound. THey are used with singles to warm up the brittle sound they typically have. 500K are used with humbuckers, to let a little more treble through. So, if you have a high output humbucker with alot of treble (as I have heard the JB does) a 250K will bleed off a little of that treble to balance out the tone a bit. You can use either pot with any passive pickup, it it just a matter of preference. Pots are only like 5 bucks for good ones, and the wiring of a mod 2 is about as simple as a guitar gets, so switching them should only take a few minutes. Keep in mind that if you buy USA made pots like CTS, you will have to widen the hole in your guitar slightly since they have a wider shaft.
