  • A quickie - Model 2 with maple fingerboard?

I'm no expert on the Model series, but I thought the Model 2 had a rosewood fingerboard? I've seen two Model 2's here on JCF today with maple fingerboard, so that's why I'm asking.

you are right, it was rosewood on the 2. I have one.

the ones you saw w/ maple boards either were not Model 2's or they had a Model 1 neck swapped in.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

it's also possible that the necks came from Model 4Ms, which would be easier since they are already setup with a locking nut. a Model 1 neck would need to be modified for one

The model 2M is something they SHOULD have made!

I think that they may have released them as Japan only models. Every once in Model 2's with Kahler fulcrums and maple fingerboards pop up for sale on Yahoo! Auction (equivalent of Ebay in Japan). Haven't seen any with the JT-6 though, so maybe only in 1986 and 1987?
