  • Post-1991 Fusion?

Were there any Charvel Fusions made after 1991? I found a guy selling what he claims to be a Charvel Fusion Deluxe - says he bought it new in 1997. But it's HSS and the singles are straight, not slanted, with no covers, which doesn't match any picture of a Fusion that I've seen. Is there any way this could be a Fusion?

    I think up until about 93, 89-93?

Charvel Fusions until '91, Jackson Fusion from '92 on.

It could be a 375 or 475. Got any more specs?

It could also be a mid-90s model, but that wouldn't be a Fusion - what's the headstock look like?

The Fusion Custom was HSS, but the singles were actually rail hums. Like Gary said, '91 was the last year. In fact, '91 was the last year for Charvel imports with the Jackson pointy headstock. An easy way to tell if it's a 375 (which was HSS with uncovered singles) rather than a Fusion is by the number of frets, 22 vs. 24. Here are some catalog scans to check out for comparison:

It's possible that the guy is just confused about the year, or maybe he did buy it as new old stock if it sat in a store for a few years.

Thanks for all the help, everyone. I'm still not sure what it is - it's got a rosewood board, 24 frets, and upon closer inspection, I think the straight singles actually do have covers. It looks a lot like the blue Fusion Custom in the 1991 catalog - but it doesn't have the same matching headstock. He says he's going to try to find a receipt with the date and model number on it.
