• Floyd locking nut size for Model Series?

Does anyone know the proper size Floyd Rose locking nut for the Model series (particularly Models 1-3)? Thanks.

An R4 will work as well, just different string spacing

Measure it. The Model 88 neck is R2 sized.

Okay, so that's 1 vote for R2, one for R3, and one for R4.

I thought all Model Series necks were 1-11/16"

R3 and R4 are the same width, just different string spacing.

Nut #2 - Neck Width 1-5/8" - 10" radius
Nut #3 - Neck Width 1-11/16" - 10" radius
Nut #4 - Neck Width 1-11/16" - 10" radius

the model series doesn't have a flyod rose R nut.

the width is 1-11/16ths but it has a plastic nut with the locking clamp behind it.

the string spacing should be equivilant to an R3 though.

I took that information for granted. I figured he wanted to put a FR locking nut on a Model Series neck.

You are correct. I do want to put a Floyd nut (and bridge) on a Model series. Thanks for all of the input. You guys are super.

I'm trying to do the same thing, I have an R3 nut but there is a problem with not enough of a flat surface on the headstock for the nut to sit on top of. There has to be some modification done to the headstock to accomodate the Floyd nut.

You will have to build a little platform for it to sit on.

Yes, you need to get a platform built to take the nut. Just measure to make sure which nut you'll want. Most are R3/R4 size, but a Model 88 and a Spectrum are R2.

I definitely have an R3 nut, I purchased a new OFR for this Model 1. I've been searching to see if there was a pre-made wedge for this type of problem but I can only find the straight shims. If anyone has any picts of what the modification looks like at the headstock, that would be great or if anyone knows where I could get a custom wedge, that would be even greater! Thanks.

Or, can anyone recommend a very good tremolo replacement for the vintage tremolo that cam in the Model 1? Maybe a Gotoh/Wilkinson? I would be looking for something that would not require any cavity modification. Thanks.
