Unique "1989" Charvel 475 Truss Rod

About a year ago I scored an incredible "1989" Charvel 475 Special Exotic in Trans Red, unfortunately it's in dire need of a neck adjustment and I can't seem to track down the right tool for the truss rod.
The 7mm wrench that I use for my 1989 Charvel 550xl and my other 1989 Charvel 475 Special Exotic is too large, and the nut to adjust is visibly different than any MIJ I've had or seen. I also tried a 1/4" size wrench and it was too small.

So I was hoping someone would be able to help, if 7mm is too big and 6.35mm too small what is it? $50 of tools later and I still have no clue. I'm fairly new to adjusting my own truss rods but I don't think I'm missing anything. Everyone I've asked so far has no clue either, their Charvel's of this era all take the 7mm, and none of them have seen a nut like this one. I would really appreciate any info, tips, or guidance! Has anyone seen a nut like this on a MIJ Charvel?

I started really getting curious about the guitar when I saw a Limited Edition 88' USA Dinky for sale on Reverb that had what looked to be the same nut as well as a distinctive line marking in the cavity, since then I've seen a few other USA's with the same style. The 475 in question is an early example, it predates all the exotic models documented in this serial database, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1441487913, with a serial number of 3223XX. As far as I know that style of truss rod has no business being on a MIJ, and with such an early serial number I wonder, what's the possibility that this is a more than just your average 475 exotic, possibly a prototype or something along those lines? I figure if anyone would know it would be someone on here. The guitar is all original other than a set of Schaller strap buttons, sports an early set of USA Jackson pickups and stock JT-6 bridge studs with a Jackson stamped JT-590

It plays, looks, and sounds amazing, special or not! I'd really love to make a neck adjustment and get it ripping fast once again, like I said, any help regarding what size truss tool I need is greatly appreciated!

More likely story, someone installed a different truss rod. As for the way it looks, looks the same as all Charvel & Jackson truss rods to me. At least the ones that don't take allen wrenchs.
Buy a set of cheapo "small" sockets at walmart and use a allen wrench to turn the socket.

I have the same guitar except I put emgs in it years ago, serial 327xxx and the nut looks the same, the wrench that came with it new is a loose fit. I have 4 other 475 models and they all have the same nut.
