  • NGD - Charvel Satchel

    'Sup peeps!

    My Satchel guitar arrived thursday - ordered from my local dealer. It's a fun guitar and very cool looking. this is by far the 'brightest' (color) guitar I own.. wow. I expected it to be visually loud but I giggled like a school girl when I pulled this out. It's so hideous that I love it!

    It's definitely several steps below MIA, MIJ and my other MIM charvel (pro stock SD1) in terms of quality - the particular one I received I would have honestly classified as b-stock due to various cosmetic and quality issues. I've reached out to FMIC/Charvel and they were responsive and want to make this right so I'll be patient and see what they will do.

    I'll have to record a more appropriate (ie hard rock/etc) song sometime but here's it in use on a song I'm working on for an audition this weekend.

            What was wrong with the Satchel that you weren't happy?

            And how about a video of those beautiful PC1s in the background?

              Small cavity hole on back of neck (like a nail had been pushed into it) that is felt while playing near the nut. Huge gap in neck pocket - easily fit a business card between neck and the ***horizontal*** shelf. Paint smudges on neck. Pickup height screw was "painted" with a sharpie to hide fact it was obviously worn/used prior.

              Sent photos to FMIC and said that I really think this shouldn't have left the factory as "new". they agreed, and are going to exchange with another satchel.

                Great sound and playing. Watching the videos and seeing the one photo you posted, we'd never realize that it was full of factory flaws. Why not post photos of the flaws? Or is it because FMIC is being gracious that you figure the flaws are all water under the bridge by now?

                  no its because I haven't uploaded them to my image hosting account yet (still on my cell phone). One of many things I have on my "to do" list.

                    @NOTP: a couple pics

                    dent in wood (below string tree area)

                    poor fitting neck pocket

                    black paint smudges

                    yellow paint stained wood by 18th fret

                    after a few minutes of playing, my picking hand's palm turned black and it was because someone touched up this screw with a marker.

                    Fender/Charvel has been really fantastic so far (seriously!) on how they are handling this and seem genuinely concerned for my satisfaction.

                        Great guitar thanks for sharing. Sounds like they want to make it right and I hope they do. Still wish it was the green one but Yellow looks awesome as well!
