  • My New (old!) Charvel Model 6 on way - More info anyone?

    Hi All,

Well it's been a helluva 'guitar' week for me :-)

By far and away my favourite Charvel has always been the model 6. I was very fortunate to acquire a lovely 'tidy' example in Pink Mist finish last year, and a few of you have been very kind to offer advice and input with regards to it's renovation. Thanks very much for that. Much appreciated.

i always check Ebay and Reverb each week to see if there are any interesting 80's Charvels for sale...... Low and behold there it was!..... Only just 'live' on Ebay, a Charvel Model 6 in the coarser 'Lava Crackle' finish, and best yet the Charvel headstock logo is Orange too. This is my 'holy grail' Charvel! Seen 'em, loved 'em, could never afford one, and of course they seem to be very hard to get hold of.

It's described as B+ condition, so i'll have to wait and see, but it looks ok to me (follow link below). But, i'm ecstatic!!! It's already on it's way - i can't wait to get my mitts on it!

What i'm hoping you guys and gals can help me with is with history/production info. I know the Firecrackles were produced in 1988, I know thy made significantly less guitars with this finish than the standard ones. And i know that the coarser 'lava' finish is more unusual than the standard firecrackle finish. Finally, I believe the lava finish with 'lava' coloured headstock logo is pretty much as rare as it gets for the Model 6.

Can anyone tell me any more about this guitar? Specifically, how many Firecrackle Model 6s were produced, how many Lavacrackles were produced, and how many lavecrackles with lava logos?

I'd appreciate any input anyone can offer.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Wow, that's cool! I don't think I've seen that pattern of crackle before. Looks better than the usual crackle, IMO.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think the orange logo might make it a limited Japan-market model called a Model Luke, named for Luke Takamura from the band Seikima II. Pretty sure I've seen a catalog scan or 2 of it, and there are a couple of mentions here and there in this forum. I'm tight on time, but will try to find some info later

Model Luke is another model with red crackle finish, white logo, passive electronics and different wiring.
This guitar calls Model 6 Yellow Crackle. Luke Takamura used both ML and YC, but YC based on his own custom Jackson USA Soloist
160000 yen MSRP as Model ACE

I think I must've confused it from when one of the yellow crackles came up & we saw this page. Probably would've been helpful to know Russian

Who knows the information about the Charvel guitarists of Seikima 2? The first one is called the Charvel Model (?) Luke, The second one seems to be the Charvel Model 6 Ace Shimizu. I now see Charvel in the coloring Lava saw a lot, but there are two humbucker and then the humbucker and 2 singles. (I'm talking about the first guitar).
Thanks in advance for the answer!

I find a very real thing. I know a man who carries very rare (and not very) cheap guitars from Japan. Here are your Charlev models 6 in lava and with HSS http://cs320427.vk.me/v320427772/63f5/LDcWz2L72GY.jpg (it's the same model in the second photo attached to you in the comments (which is pure white, without a patch). The second guitarist (in the cap) Charvel model 3 (https://vk.com/away.php?to=http%3A%2...13.jpg&cc_key= ..). The only thing, it's not clear what kind of guitar is on the stage photo, there's no complete configuration of the sensors, potentiometers, etc., so only about can you talk, although maybe it's something the same Charval Model 3

Hi Lefty, thanks buddy :-) I can't wait to see it. It's been my 'holy grail' Model 6 ever since i first saw a photo of one online. Never thought i'd own one though - they're as rare as rocking horse doodoo!

Hi Tojam, i too prefer the Lava Crackle to the Fire Crackle. I'll post some more photos when i have it! :-)

Hi Dg, many thanks for the information. That's really helpful. i'm starting to pice this puzzle together :-)

Hi Serephime, thanks so much for taking the time to post the Charvel Band poster, that's great! Thanks also for the multiple posts with additional information. Fascinating! The Luke Yellow Crackle is definitely the closest match thus far. Looks like just the colour is different, as mine appears more orange. I guess i'll find out when it arrives! I'm also liking the ACE! Not seen that before. I always liked the 'SoCal' look, but never wanted one because i only play thru neck guitars. The Ace is really cool with the fusion of So Cal and Model series neck/headstock! Anyone know where i can get one! lol! :-)

Hi Number of the Priest, Good to hear from you again. Thanks for your tranlation and helpful imput. I really appreciate your efforts :-)

I'm glad i posted on here, you guys have been so helpful,

A big thank you to you all ;-)

I'll post on here when the guitar arrives. Fingers crossed it's ok,
