  • Chavel 475 Deluxe Exotic Neck Thickness

    Hi all,

I've just bought and received this guitar and was surprised to find out that the neck feels considerable thicker than my USA SL1.
I was expecting a thin C shaped profile but I can't exactly call this thin.
Does anyone know the exact thickness at 3rd and 12th fret fro reference (I know the SL1 is 0.790 and 0.850).

    Thanks

Well, if you have the guitar why don't you measure it?

FWIW, I have a 550XL and a Model 5FX and found these have fat necks too.

But the 2 Model 6's and 650XL and 750XL all have thin necks.

    Go figure.

When I change the strings I will take a measurement .

I don't have any tools to do that accurately.

Not the case in my experience. I have a Soloist and 475 Exotic, and the 475's neck is slightly thinner than any real Soloist I've played.

What year is the Solist from?
Mine is from 2006 and it definitely has a slightly thinner neck and flatter neck.

All of the model series and XL series Charvels had hand shaped necks and vary in thickness. I played more than a half dozen Charvels when I bought my first, a 3A... there were 3 or 4 of them and they all felt different, as did the other models I played more than one of. When I bought my 3DR when they first came out, I played several of them and they were slightly different too.
