Number inside Model Series control cavity

I know we discussed this before, but I think it got lost in the server crash because a search didn't show what I needed.

I just picked up another Model 6 last night.
There is the number seven painted inside of the cavity.

What does this number represent?



And if anyone is keeping a database for this -
1987 - serial stamped into the board
Blue -- but looks different than Cobalt Blue, and it is kinda sparkle

Just checked my Model 3 (s/n #302524 if it helps) and both control and trem cavity have no numbers inside.

I remember that thread and that no one had an answer as to what it meant. Some suggested it was to identify the tech.
