  • Pots on newer Charvels, What type?

I know mine is a solid-shaft pot. But Is it a long or short pot?

I'd like to swap it out for a switchcraft and use a regular Strat knob.

Depends on if you have a pickguard or not. Typically, short shafts are used on pickguards because they're thin, and long shaft are used on solid tops because the wood is thicker than plastic.

If I'm not mistaken, Switchcraft long-shaft pots come with extra spacers so you can adjust how much sticks out the top. As long as you have enough clearance in the bottom, they should work fine.
