  • Charvel So Cal Pro Mod, oil and frets.

    Hi.

Bought a new So Cal Pro mod in may. Just started using it, played maybe 30 hours on it.
The oil that's on the fretboard is going away and the weather here is very humid.
I know it's not recommended to oil maple fretboards but it just looks like it's drying up.

Anybody here from Charvel that can tell me if I should oil it, if so what oil should I get ?
Another thing, what frets are on these guitars, like them a lot.

    Thanks, have a nice weekend.

I oil my maple fertboards. I don't play near as much as most people, but I've never had a problem. I'm sure more will chime in...

Birchwood casey gunstock oil. Rub it on with a finger then rub off with a clean towel

+1 this is what they use as well if I remember correctly. Dont use too much though and give it plenty of time to dry. I used to have a San Dimas Style 2 and used too much and it does really darken it up- I spent quite a bit of time steel wooling back down to a lighter color...

          Thanks for the reply.
This it the reply I got from Fender.
"Tru-oil is excellent for that. Let dry and then buff with 0000 steel wool=) Works great. I would only do when absolutely necessary."
I asked what frets they used in the same email, they didn't answer that, do you guys know ?
