  • Looking to replace my JT6

would a straight up new OFR do the trick ?

Yep. Quick and easy swap, and worth it IMHO. Love mine.

You will need to pay attention to block height when replacing it. Since I believe those were non-recessed you are likely going to need a 37mm or more likely 42mm block on the floyd. If they happen to be recessed you will need a 32 or 37 depending on the depth of the recess.

I always dug the JT6, if it is setup correct, it rocks... the wear seems to be the issue.. and cheap machinery .. Cast Vs. Metal

The 37 mm block worked great on my '88 (no recess) which is what a boxed Floyd comes with anywhere I've ever ordered one.

The 37mm may work, but the 42mm is definitely what the stock block was on the JT-6 (on my Model 4 at least). I just ordered a Big Block from FloydUpgrades and I was good to go.
