  • Carvin Bolt - Review & Pics

My new Carvin Bolt Plus arrived yesterday (took about 5 weeks). Let me just get this out of the way... it's an awesome guitar! I absolutely love it. It plays and sounds fantastic, not to mention that it looks stunning.

For a few months, I was seriously considering getting a new Charvel USA Production model SD1. Who on here doesn't want a American made Charvel strathead? I played a couple of them. Great guitars for sure, but I realized I could get features more suited to me by ordering the Carvin. Mainly, I wanted a trans finish and a Wilkinson trem. I'd still like a black SD1 if I can get one cheap enough down the road.

    Carvin Bolt Plus specs:

    swamp ash body
    trans Teal finish
    Wilkinson bridge
    birds eye maple fretboard
    locking Spertzel tuners
    stock Carvin pickups
    abalone dot inlays

I though I would have to change out the pups to Duncans, but once I plugged into my Line 6 amp I realized it wouldn't be necessary. Maybe it's because of the digital amp models. Anyway, it sounds and play awesome. Now for the pics.

Congratulations, it looks great! How is the neck in terms of radius/profile/thickness?

    Thanks

Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

The neck feels very comfortable. It's the standard Carvin radius, which I think is 12. If I recall correctly, it's pretty similar to the current Charvel production models. Bottom line, I can blaze up and down this neck.
