  • I bought a surplus eighties custom body.

A guy I know used to custom build guitars in the eighties was getting rid of of a lot of stuff he had lying around including THIS.

Now, I'm thinking: Floyd Rose, white cover EMG SA pickups, or white cover Duncan hot rail pickups and a self made birdseye maple neck with ebony fingerboard would be a good way to make this one a cool player don't you guys think?

and I also bought a bass he never fished.

    Great scores!
That guitar body is awesome looking.
Are you going ot try to match the headstock to the body or use paint?

I was more thinking about the looks of the Pensa-Suhr that Mark Knopfler played.

Very nice wood. Think it's zebrawood (back) - which is (tonally) similar to maple. Should be a nice tight/sharp tone to it.

I'd make a zebrawood neck w/ ebony board and maybe a matching headstock. Black hardware w/ black PUs. Or gold/brass hardware w/ white PUs. Definitely keep the 3-tite PU configuration.

What kind of stain/finish are you planning?

          Are those white Emg's?
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Great looking body. I'd have to hog out the bridge single (carefully of course) and put a humbucker in the spot.
