  • So say your neighbor rings the doorbell, and....

asks..."Would you like to see my grandmothers guitar"? Sure! And then
    he opens up the case......

A totally original unrepaired 1953 ES 295 !!! Even has the original
sales receipt from 1956 !!! Now this is a closet classic.

Never repaired... original everything !!! In Excellent condition overall... P-90's !!!!!!!!!!

Only cosmetic damage is wear from CAPO use ....in 52 years !! What would you
say the value is? My guess is around $4500.00 ? The Receipt also shows they
    purchased a Gibson amp for $95.00 that day...and a TV set for $460.00! $835.00
total spent in 1956 !! That's like forking over about $13K this weekend for "Entertainment" !!

If only she had decided to purchase a 1956 STRAT that day? LOL

It seems crazy to see everything so perfect on one of these! What does the future hold for this antique?

My god that's a beautiful guitar. As for what it's worth, who knows? The sky is the limit on one of those. It doesn't even look like the finish has checked yet. Too bad about the capo damage, without that, it's as mint as one of those gets.

You have to love those dodgy old Gibson Trapese Tailpieces. Don't funtion worth a damn but are cool as hell.

That really is a beautiful guitar. Thanks for posting those pics Robert!
      I'm angry because you're stupid

Nice! Did you grab the guitar case, punch your neighbor in the face and then lock the door?

Robert your right around $ 5000 it would be more if it had an OHSC . That trapaze bridge is better than the 52 where the string went under the bridge.

Oooh nice, I keep looking under relatives beds but I never find anything remotely like that. A few copies of Razzle and some old Playboys once but no vintage Guitars.

Does your next door neighbour play the thing at all?

"Hmmm, yeah, it's a bit old, not reliable like these modern Jap guitars. It's a bit long in the tooth for most people these days, that's why you don't see many, they just aren't popular. I'll take it down the tip for you. Here's $20, leave it to me, I'll dispose of it for you, don't you worry about it.
No, my pleasure, anything to help."

              YEEEEE-HAAAAAWWW!!!!

(That is pretty much how the conversation went when I scored my 1964 JTM45 for £40 a few years back. He he)
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

              I nearly broke her back

Try contacting George Gruhn. And see if he can give ya a value on it. Or even the guys at the hollywood vintage room. They'll have a good idea as well as George would. Also the case in the first pic. Is the original hardshell case. Its time period correct and even has the blue interior. So yeah I would say at least 5k.

                            That is amazing,

if only it could talk and tell us about the 51 years it spent in it's case at the bottom of the cupboard!

Just out of interest what were you expecting to see when you neighbour arrived with the case?
