    I also agree to this. My Koa Tele has a satin finished neck, and it just feels out of this world smooth. Not the fastest guitar I've ever owned by a long shot, but it makes up for it with smooth playability (If that makes sense )

    I've actually thought about trying to go over the gloss finish on my Jackson's neck with 0000 steel wool when I do my spring setup, but what would happen if I went over the binding? I know it's cleared over, but I don't want to screw up the look of it.

      I see your point to but most of these guitars are going to be around long after we're gone . I think you've been around long enough to see the horrible mods done to great guitars .( i don't mean pickups unless routing is done or tuners ) How many 60's Firebirds or P90 equip anything have you seen with full size humbucker or extra pickup put in by drilling a hole? You can find guitars with option you like out there my God, Fender makes about 50 Stratacasters that they say are all different.
