I have one and love it. Resonant as all hell and has been solid and realiable all these years for me. Stood the test of gigging during my active gigging days and never let me down.
I bought it new and although the jack looks odd it is a Strat.
I have been watching those and have not seen one go that high yet.They can be had at guitar shows for the $300.00 mark quite often.I was fishing one at a show last year and no collector would even make an offer all they would say A "smith" sorry not interested.
Sorry, but '83/'84 Std. Strats are not Smiths. A Smith Strat is a '82/early'83 Std. Strat which had a E2 serial number, '70s vintage trem, small headstock, '70s F tuners, '70s logo, 4 bolt neck, vintage frets, vintage radius, normal jack cup, and two tone knobs and a volume. It is getting ridiculous that in the past few years everyone on ebay has inflated the price of the '83/'84 Stds. by calling them Smiths.

I stand corrected I spoke with my Fender guru today and you are correct. he did say the headstocks were a little different demension wise.But still not what many consider a collectible strat.
