  • Fender EC Strat owners or players.. talk to me.

I'm seriously considering picking up and older used one if I can find one at a price I like. I played one years ago and I remember really liking the v neck.

I'm looking for some honest opinions of the EC strat. What do you like and don't like about them.

Also if anybody knows where I can find a good used one (preferably with Lace Sensors in 7 up green, pewter, or red) I would also appreciate it.

    Thanks up front.

I got one of the rarer green ones and LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT for the vintage frets. Couldn't dig 'em and couldn't justify to myself spending another $250 for a fret job to replace basically factory new frets, so I sold it after a month. I have a newer one with the vintage noiseless pups. If you don't mind small frets, it's as close to a perfect Strat as any.

So the frets are small... how do they stack up to say

      1. Ernie Ball Axis
      2. American Standard Strat
      3. 50s classic strat
      4. ESP MII

Sound wise how good is the mid boost?

Does anybody else have any experience with a Clapton Strat?

Almost everyone I know who has an EJ Strat, LOVES them. I'm not a big fan of small vintage frets either, but it's not as big an issue to me as it is to others.

The neck carve on the Clapton Strat is freakin' awesome, to ME.
