  • Getting a Larrivée

An RS1. Only 2 ever made like this according to the seller. Repaired crack at the nut bolts. Refretted not long ago. I probably overpaid, but I fucking love the colour and the heavily used look.

I'm totally psyched, can't wait til it gets here.

Is that a Paul Dean model or whatever the guy from Loverboy's name is?

That's one of the reasons I got it, I love the yellow beat up look. Everything is in great condition otherwise, new frets and electronics. Will be my first neckthrough.

These things were handmade in Canada right?

Probably not. Allegedly, there were two of these built, and one of them went to swedish guitarist Kee Marcello. I have no idea if this is the one Kee Marcello played or if it's the other one.

Kramer made the paul dean model:

What about this was 'only two built'? Is he saying only two in that color or 1 hum or flat top? The body shape is Larrivee's electric shape, I had a Hum/sing/sing w/kahler a long time ago, similar to this one that has a floyd:

Larrivee didn't make too many electrics, but they are out there. Larrivee also made some of the "Schon" guitars.

I have a Larrivee 1 hum Tele w/kahler. They do have nice necks and they used ebony on the fingerboards.

I think he meant only 2 that are yellow, have one bridge hum, one volume knob and a OFR. The combination of specs. That's how I interpreted it anyways...

Larrivee made the Paul Dean guitars for Kramer..........
I have a Larrivee customshop guitar, which is one of, well none. I've still never ever seen another customshop electric Larrivee, only the regular production electrics. I got it from Larrivee when they moved their facility, as it was part of a display in their offices. They are cool guitars, but I dont like their necks. They also used to build the Signature neckthrus. I had one of those and it was a killer, but it had that damn neck........

I seemed to remember hearing something about this. That's why I thought this was a Paul Dean model.

Umm... I thought Jackson was responsible for the Schon guitars...

Could be wrong, but it seems there might be a discussion in the works on that. Although I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it were Larrivee built.

Nice guitar BTW!! I'd love to find one myself!

The Schon guitars were built by both Jackson and Larrivee.

Larrivee only go for a little more than $300 + in excellent shape. Jackson made Schon guitars in 1986 only serial # 1- 200 or less. Larrivee made Schon 87-90 they only had 22 frets. There's a Jackson Schon on Ebay now .

Actually I sold my Signature neckthru for $2,200. They actually do sell for quite abit, but some models fetch much more than others. Alot of the low end models dont sell for much, but then isnt that true for all guitars? Seems like a basic concept..............

wow that guitar has seen better days. hope it works out for you. that is why I never consider drilled through necks for the nut like that. cracks happen far too often.

Kee Marcello, yeah come to think of it I may have seen him with one of these in a video. he's a great player, super fluid and toneful.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
