  • Mojo Body on way...

Denny at Mojo Bodies is tooling this Basswood Charvel Type body for me to Holdsworth specs....looks like great work. I also got a Neck from Musikraft on order to Holdsworth specs. And managed to find an old Dimarzio Tremolo.

Were the original Holdsworth Charvels made out of Basswood?

Guitar Player Magazine December 1982 "What kinds of woods were employed in their construction?

All three are different. The red one has a maple neck with an ebony fingerboard and a basswood body. The white one has a maple neck, ebony fingerboard, and a body made of jelutong [a Malaysian and Indonesian softwood]. Then there's the one that I was most interested in: a maple neck and fingerboard -- one piece -- and a spruce body with a clear finish. They all sound different from each other, which is really great, because I've learned so much about what to do about two more guitars that Grover's going to make. He's going to use a combination of all the best ideas in these three."

            1.)Basswood-Red Holdsworth 2.)Jelutong-White Guitar and 3.)Spruce-Clear Finish

I'll suggest the white one. I can't also wait to get mine. It will be sent to BigHead guitars for painting.

I think Denny does amazing work. I don't have the body yet, so it is going to take a couple of months for me to get the body painted, given Paul's schedule, but as soon as I have everything ready I'll post pics.
