• Les Paul's for Dummies

Like me.

Eventually I want to join the Les Paul club but I think a slim 60's neck would be a must. What models came with them? Did any of them have ebony boards?

These all have rosewood boards, but for starters:

Les Paul Classics
Current Les Paul standards come with 50s or 60s neck
Faded Les Paul standards come with 50s or 60s neck
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Just try the 50s and 60s first. I though I would have to have a 60s and I couldnt play it for shit Even though most of my guitars have a slim neck! Then I got a 50s neck and it was great, way easier to play. Then I opted for a reissue and it's even bigger but still really playable, although when I pick that one up I tend to play somewhat differently. The rest of my guitars still have pretty slim necks but for LPs Just make sure you try em all out for a while first.

You can get a Les Paul LE. They have the 60's carve and the ebony boards with Standard apointments beyond that. (unbound headstock, bound neck and single ply binding on the body)

Or you can go R0 VOS. Which would be slimmer neck, long tennon, rosewood board, and standard appointments with busrtbuckers 2 and 3 for the PUP config.

One last option would be a used 89-91 Custom. They had skinnier necks and ebony. I have one and I wouldent sell it for anything. Excellent piece of work.

Daddies in West Warwick had a Manhattan Midnight LE a few weeks ago. I didn't get the price though.
