  • Fender Relics and Custom Shop Guitars

I went out to all the guitar stores in NYC and played a bunch of Fender Relics/ Re-issues and I was not impressed at all. For a hand made custom guitar they are all quite terrible the way they are set up out of the box. I asked for a quote from a dealer to get bigger frets and a slight change in the neck radius and the price went from $2300 to $3080 (As per Fender!) Does anyone here own a decent one? I love the old 1956 two tone maple neck relic look but it just doesn't seem worth the price. Any opinions?

A lot of people say older Relics are better.
    Late 90's ones.
I had one and I have to agree.
Newer ones look and feel like mass production models.

I have to agree. I remember when they first came out. I played one and I was floored. The ones I played yesterday sucked.
