• Thinking about this custom Gisbon...

Just toying with the idea. I would probably go with a wrap around tail piece instead of the TOM. Maybe even a maple fingerboard. Whadyya think?

To be honest, I don't like it at all, lol.

1 Hum LP just looks weird, and the control set-up is just.. I mean, it could because the LP is so infamous, that any change is blown out of proportion, if you get me, but I just thing it looks weird, Regardless of practicality the look just kills it for me.

I appreciate the feedback buddyfuzz. I had that reaction the first time I saw a 1 p/u LP as well but it's really grown on me.
I saw this one a while back and hated it...but now I'm into it.

I have seen a similar guitar before.
I think the guy from ZZ Top has one.
It looks cool reminds of Les Paul Jr.

You can always buy a cheap used, fill the neck cavity and refinish the top.

nice3 photoshopping....hee hee. I don't like the single pickup look on an LP, but the simplified controls would be cool. I would stay awy from the maple fingerboard unless you are getting a different colored body-it will look very washed out and pale. Otherwise, it's cool.

yeah, my photoshop skills are in the toilet
I was thinking about maybe trans black w/ maple fb. But, djm had a great idea about filling in the cavity on a used one since Gibson will want about 4-5k for this I'm guessing.

what the hell is a gisbon
With one humbucker, it has a very clean look. Kinda like it. Is the wraparound bridge that trapezoid-formed thing ?

Yes, pardon my dilexia The wrap around tailpiece is like the one on the goldtop pictured above. Nice and simple.

Yes, my wife bought me a membership as a gift the first year it started. Gibson Custom Direct is what it is called. The guitars they offer up are sometimes quite unique and although they are priced at a premium, it's in line with what you would expect to pay for a custom Gibson. The LP's I have had quoted for me from my specs, however, are so expensive it's quite ridiculous. You are better off going through a dealer to get the same guitar quoted.

A little boredom this afternoon has led to a few photoshop examples. Let me know what you think about these...

Forgot to mention the darker board is intended to be tinted/aged maple not rosewood

Unless it's a white body, maple boards don't look good on Les Pauls, IMO.
