I ordered one back in 198x.
I had expected the round horns - like it showed in the catalog.

But, turns out, they switched designs to the pointy and neglected to tell anyone until the next year's catalog came out.

You can imagine my shock when I opened it up.

So what happened? Did you send it back? Keep it?

Nice! I like Carvins, but have never owned an Ultra V. Like pianoguyy, I also prefer the older round horn bodies.

Finally get to post a pic of my old Carvin. Love the combo - Walnut/Maple/Koa. The coil-tap is an awesome feature (Westone used to do this with their tone pots too). And the gold hardware sets it off - still gold after 20 years. Of course the frets will never tarnish. Got to love stainless...

Any love for this model? Always wanted a reverse Rhoads and this is the closest I'll ever get to one...
