• San Dimas Guitars (not what you are thinking)

I came across this ad for a guitar company named San Dimas Guitars in the new issue of Guitar World and checked out their site because just from the name I had kind of an idea what was going on.

Well I was right, they do look like older Charvels so my question is, does anyone know anything about these guys? Are these guitars decent/good/great?

Also on the main page they have Dave Mustain's son as an endorsee. Now I'm thinking, did they get him because of his name or is this kid actually a good guitar player?

    Have a look: http://www.sandimasguitars.com/home.html

Would they do one with an angled back head? I really prefer those to a straight headstock that needs string retainers.

We had a big discussion on Lloyd's guitars... search for "Lloyd has his own guitar company" or something like that, and "San Dimas guitars", under both the General Jackson sub-forum and the Other Guitars sub-forum.

I think Twisteramps and Zimale tried them out personally.

LOL - Is that Mustaine's kid? Props to Lloyd for getting creative with his endorsees.

Justus Mustaine's credits are "professional student" and "aspiring guitarist", so I take it his smokin' fretboard skills are not what got him endorsed at this point.

Kev - Are the necks oiled or finished? I can't tell from the website.

I don't mind the headstock, actually. Not my favorite, but it's certainly more pleasing to my eye than many others (Waynes, etc). Somewhat early Kramer-ish, IMHO, so it's got a familiar vibe to it.

The body routes look pretty familiar. Is he using Warmoth built bodies on these?

I remember the Warmoth question coming up in the earlier threads, but apparently, those aren't Warmoth despite the similar routes.

I kinda like the headstock, not many like it, except maybe Raven guitars if they are still around? Anyway, if they had a Mahogany body instead of Alder, I may consider one. Jack.
