  • Hair Metal Hamer Upgrade

Just go this back this week! Originally scored this '90 Hamer USA Cali Custom 3 years ago and gave it the full-on Vector modding. Everything short of the wood, tuners and fret wires were swapped out, upgraded or eliminated altogether. Now even the original fret wire is gone! In it's place are stainless steel jumbos that, along with some other minor tweaks, have made this one of my most cherished and high performing shredders.

    The run down-
    new Dunlop stainless frets,
new Schaller LockMeister (which replaced a new-ish Schaller Lic'd Floyd and is a dramatic improvement)w/ FR fat brass block
new CTS 250K Vol pot that replaced the 500K I initially put in
SD Custom Shop TB-5 p'up, direct mounted
Switchcraft mini toggle kill switch which replaced the series/parallel switch
    Dunlop Strap locks
    new input jack
new custom ordered truss rod cover
Lastly, the paint, done by Stike at ROWYCO

Normally I'm not a huge fan of single p'up axes due to their sonic limitations but this one defies that. The lower resistance vol. pot gives it a much more manageable tone and can still be used to coax some nice tones for sweeps and scalar passages.

That thing is so 80's it makes me want to get a pink polo shirt with a popped collar

              I like it.

This was the inspiration for the color I chose. Some dude on FB thought it was lifted from Ibanez. It was not. Can't be certain but Ibby had a neon yellow while this is neon Chartreuse. BIG difference!

Dueling neon guitars lol... That's so 80's! I've seen a few bands like that back then... I specifically remember a neon yellow Jackson and a neon green BC Rich ST-3... I forget who it was though.. Pantera back in the glam days... or Forbidden... lol

That is a great color though.
