Going to look at an 85 Gibson Les Paul Studio Std tomorrow.
I hear conflicting info saying they had alder bodies and mahogany necks.
I had an 84 studio Std and it was a mahogany body and neck.
I had an 83 Studio and it was alder with a mahogany neck.
Seems they were all over the place as far as what wood they used.
Any one here have a studio Std from that time period?
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I thought it was the epiphones that had alder bodies at one time or a alder/mahogany sandwich to the body....or something similar. If it plays and sounds good I'd just get it and be happy
    It's pronounced soops

It should have the Shaw pick ups and if it doesn't he better lower his price.
I learned these had a slightly thinner body as well.
I did find out they indeed have an alder body and mahogany or maple neck just depends on what they had laying around.
      Made from 83 to 86.
I will have my trusty screwdriver handy to check the pick ups.If he won't let me look then I'm walking away.
I guess I'll find out when I go look at it in the morning.
Going to look at a 79 LP custom in natural tomorrow as well.

Well the Shaws are not in it and he wouldn't drop his price so on to the next one.
