  • History of the Washburn Steve Stevens guitars

I would like to share here the article I wrote back in 2009, wherein I did a lot of research to provide the only history on the web of these extremely limited and rare guitars..the Washburn Steve Stevens Signature models.
There have been tons of views and I am very proud of my research and article.
These guitars were spectacular and are amongst the best of the virtually unknown super Strats as they were only produced for a few months in 1993

I own two SS 80's that were made for SS personally and I love these guitars they sound and play incredible with a superb build quality on the US produced models!
Here is an album with my late 1987 Hamer Chapparal Custom with Jim O'Connor killer paint job and my incredible Hamer Steve Stevens SS-3 which was never for sale to the public. The did sell a guitar called the Centura eventually but the specs widely differed from the custom SS-3. If you check out the live version of Dirty Diana from MSG and the Atomic Playboys videos you will see what is termed the white/black version that mine is an exact replica of along with my ordered in 1993 black SS 80 built for SS and my killer SS 80 with a quilted maple top and maple cap museum grade birdseye maple neck and Gotoh Floyd from 1993 which was owned by the company CEO in his private museum.
The Hamer has a EBMMEVH asymmetrical maple flamed maple cap neck with top mount FR nut.

i noticed that a GC not too far from me has a washburn Stevie Salas made of korina. it looks and feels a lot like the hamer diablo II. did washburn just basically remake guitars that hamer artists played at one time? i mean, even the headstock on the stevie salas is VERY close to the hamer diablo II head....
    GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

    and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Was Stevie Salas a Hamer player? I thought he used to be endorsed by Yamaha.
