  • Rotten Weather, So.....

With all the group shots going on lately, I though I'd pull a few guitars out for a pic.

    Top; 58R V & a 61R Les Paul
    Bottom; 58R, 94 LP Standard, Gary Moore, 59R & 57R.

Very nice. I have 1 up on you - a Black LP Custom. That might help round out your collection.

I see an SG on top.

Nice collection! I'll take the Gary Moore and the Goldtop!

Looks great - I'm loving the look of the R9. Neck'd be too big for me though, so I'm keeping an eye open for an R0..

Hey Toe, the sg never got it's name until 1963. In 1961 Gibson quit making the Les Paul as we know it. In 61 they changed it into the SG but still called it a Les Paul.

As the story goes, Les Paul (the person) wasn't happy with the new Les Paul guitar as Gibson didn't get his input on it & wanted his name taken off. So Gibson kept calling them Les Pauls until they ran out of the logos and truss rod covers they had on hand (sometime in 63). The Les Paul was reintroduced in 1968.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. I do remember some old SGs did have the Les Paul name, wasn't sure on the timeline.

He later said it was a mistake because the SG was Gibsons best selling guitar.

The R9 is sexy... I have to admit. I'll never buy a Gibson again but hey they are nice looking.
