    DaveRocks,
It seems you prefer the "Real Deal", but if you ever need a replica let me know.

Thanks guys for all the positive posts!

Yes, I would only get the real deal but I must say that is a very nice replica - looks very well done and accurate.

A friend of mine had an original DeSpagni Jem, which I believe were made with Performance parts. Horrible stupid ugly thing, but the neck was unbelievably good!

That looks awesome, but I probably would never buy one. I could see my self snapping off those thin flame pieces; even sitting down would be hard on it.

... It would look cool hanging in a music room though!

Killer snakeskin, Dave! I'll have to check that one out someday. Curious how the neck on my WD bomber Performance compares with this one.

Thanks John - you and I are close so I'm sure we will meet up sometime.

I spoke with Performance last night, they said the snakeskin is NOT clear coated - they told me to apply mink oil about every 6 months....

I would have thought snake oil would be better

Real skin is pretty fragile and yes irritating on the forearm.
I had an ESP in real skin and I didn't care for it at all so I unloaded it quickly.
                          Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Well, it's ether my skin or the snake skin, or both but I have no issues playing this and it's pretty robust as well. This is a 96/97 circa and it's been played and has held up well. A few edges are raised and I plan to ask Performance what to use to tidy them up.

Out of my 15 guitars, it's the best sound I have....
