  • Takamine GB400

for 15 years since I saw David Vincent use one I wanted one. I know they were rare, I know that anyone who had one back then wasn't gonna give it up. UNTIL NOW

I asked the seller for the serial, and I emailed the Morbid Angel/ David Vincent area to ask if they kept track of serials...waiting for a reply, but it would be nice to find out that this one was the one he also used somewhere in the past.

the seller sent me a ton of pictures, and I could not find any "marks" to identify it with the ones that Dave V is holding as it looks like there is a chip near the middle knob which the one I'm buying does not have and to me it won't matter if it WAS one of David's or not, but if it was, then just an extra bonus.
Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week

Thats a pretty sick bass. I really dig the sweep it has on the upper wing to bass horn!

what did they do to that Kelly?

I thought this was going to be a thread about an acoustic. Cool bass, though.
        Hail yesterday

I had the guitar version. It had a cheap trem, crap pickups, was a setneck masquerading as a neckthru, but it looked awesome. When I bought it the store said it was called a Violator. Not sure if that was real or they just made it up................

since I'm a lefty, I bought it more for a novelty. Although I can play inverted strings, I wouldn't use it on stage flipped over and look like a dork playing it. The only bass I used to do that with was my Jackson TBX, but that was years ago and it has since been retired to only jam in the house with.

I assume Tak made a bunch of metal crap to compete with every other little builder back in the day, kinda like Series10 that used the Charvel headstock. ( I still have a lefty and a righty of those laying around )..lol

a Stealth XL from 92 or 93. I haven't seen anything from Jackson that is Non-USA that I like. I guess I need to shell out the big bucks for a USA.

                    What do you have?

more like what do I have left for 2012....

                      I am a bassplayer so,
I still have the models 1 thru 4, the 3b is a tricolor.
                      I have a 94 TBX, a 2000who knows what year blue CMG and a red 92 Eliminator-V
and soon to be that TAK.

                      leftys?
                      I have a 94 futura, 2 model 2b's
                      3 no-namers A peavy BXP and a Kramer F3.

I did have a lefty 475 Deluxe for a while but also sold it in 2011 along with 6 of the spare c/j righty basses.

so I'm "down to 15" until the TAK arrives.

So you are cool with owning all those righty's? I think I would get pissed I couldn't play them, haha.

Are the no-namers mutts? Let me know if you want to sell any of them.

oh hell dude, I play them all the time. I have played inverted strings for many years like Jim Haslip.
The lefty units I have are the "modified" ones that have had a string/nut flip.

I am more known around here for "the guy who played flipped basses" back in the day than my name.
                          "sigh".....the good old days ( AND I still have that model1 )
