Are they giving you a refund?

I know its hard to let it go, but I'd really send it back. You should get what you paid for and not to mention that shim is keeping out some wood to wood contact that IMO is very important. Yeah.. if it was me it would be boxed up and ready to go back. PLUS they should pay for return shipping!

I used a Warmoth neck on a build before. I believe you will need to scrape or sand the frets before playing. They do not post prep the frets - meaning they shoot the clear over the neck - frets and all. You can see if there is any clear coat on the frets by taking some fine grit sand paper (600?) and run it over one fret and see if there is any clear on it. I didn't really notice the clear until I started bending notes and could see the clear scraping off. I guess you could just call and ask.

This is all pointless if the neck was ordered with no finish.

On maple necks, they do it just like Fender, spray after fretting. They leave it to you to scrape the clear off. They also don't dress the fret ends, they just bevel the ends with a file.

The Floyd w/Angle Pocket option is not angled like an old-school Charvel, it's more like an old Kramer. "Flush mount." Maybe 3 mm of pull-up, and that's with the neck pretty straight and the action low.

I'm not saying they didn't forget to angle the neck pocket, but I wouldn't be surprised if you wanted to shim it anyway... Looking good so far!

Okay, here is the final situation: It is done, and it sings nice.....let me rephrase that.......It sings NIIIIIICE!!! A fret level is not going to be necessary.......you will not believe how low I got the action......you can see it when you watch the video. In the lest segment, I took some shots to show you how low it is. Still trying to get the video together.

I was working on the video last evening when I got a call from some friends. One of my friends came back from the road after doing his magic show for the last month. It was his 39th birthday party and his wife hired some strippers to cater to us....... nothing sexual unfortunately.....they just served us drinks, hung out, racked the pool table, shoulder and neck massages. I ended up hypnotizing a couple people and we had a lot of fun. Good thing for Gatorade and Ibuprofen. -Lou

Well, it is done. Actually, it has been done. I have been partying too much to get everything posted in a reasonable manner. You would not believe how low the action is on this thing. I am amazed. You can get an idea in the 11th video at the end as I do a close up to give you a reference. Videos one and two are are just me rambling.....you can bypass those I guess. Videos 3-11 really got shortened as I realized how boring it was watching me do the work and/or rambling incoherently (sp?) while sipping on the sauce. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIpax...el_video_title

Cool, got coffee been waiting for these.

See i'm the opposite, i want a smaller neck E to E. I finally realized that is why i could never exactly dig on jacksons necks, i was weened on the 1 5/8th necks and prefer the strings closer together. I didn't realize there were different nut sizes and why way back when i got my first and second jacksons why i didn't really like it and always went back to my 1 5/8th guitars.
I can deal with it now because of getting used to seven strings but for six strings i still always play my Killers which are R2 nut and narrower fatter necks.
It's not even a big difference size wise, but yet it feels a lot different. I will eventually just go full custom to finally get the guitar i want, Warmoth kills me as i've been waiting like 20 years for them to make a proper 24 fret neck without the stupid overhang, obviously never gonna happen. I've went in there a few times before the internet and asked em if they will do this or that and they always said no.

nice guitar. I always wanted to do a sea foam green one like that, but I always heard that you needed to do a fret level once the gutiar was assembled and that always scared me away from doing it.

oh, and by the way, can you guess what I am doing?? (hint: it involves porn and my hand)
