Well I took the plunge and got in on a first run Gibson 50's tribute L.P.
    Played at least 10 2 black,4 white,1 cherryburst and 3 honeyburst.
I grabbed this one and expected to be just like all the others but no this one had a good weight and the neck felt so good.
I looked at a few worn versions too and they just didn't do it for me.
This one is not the worn version BTW.
The P-90's are so mellow sounding and have tons of grit and growl when you crank the amp just what I wanted from a P-90 L.P.
The finish is not as dull as most I have seen so that was a plus for me.
I'm very impressed at the fit and finish and the tone is freakin get down!!
I will tweak it some when the first string change is needed and its had a chance to vibrate some and get broken in.
I was reading online that these are popping up on ebay for $1200.00 + so I went and looked and I was shocked people were snagging them up like crazy at those high prices.
Looked at Gibson's web site and they had them listed at 1399.00.
Not what I wanted to give so I saw this at GC and grabbed it for $853.00.

Yeah I noticed it was different I think I figured it out so here is another pic.
This is more what it looks like than the first pic I changed my cam settings.

That's a nice plain maple top there! It's good to see those instead of the quilts and flames all the time.

I'm sure you could find one out there with more flame but not my thing I love plain tops.
The Gibson site said do to the demand for these they are doing another run so I figured get a first run.
I like the honey burst because you can see the maple on the sides kind of like binding.None of the others except the gold top can you see it.
I'd say grab one at the $850.00 range because the dealers are jacking up the prices quickly.
I traded some gear in and got 10% off the guitar.

Been playing the snot out of this one for a week now and it just keeps getting better.
Neck and body are vibrating like crazy, I guess it's realized its a guitar now.
The pick ups have lost a bit of the 60 cycle hum or maybe I have gotten used to it but holy shit this is one huge sounding L.P.
Very gutsy flat out rockin' in the tone dept, lots of mid range and sweet singing highs.
If you get a chance to get one you won't be disappointed.

Man, I'm really tempted to find one of these, maybe a Goldtop, and add a humbucker to the bridge like Adrian Smith did to his LP!
