  • Telecaster Custom Build.....

Here's a project that I am completeing at the moment. The body is 2 piece African Mahogany. The neck is a Rock maple 24fret Kramer. I will get Perry from Ormsby guitars to do the rout for a recessed Floyd Rose and modify the neck pocket. The body has a dyed Tung oil finish which will be sealed with some clear coats. All the hardware will have a Gold finish. Will look at some Ormsby hand wound pickups.....

I think once Perry works his magic on it it will be a fine guitar. The woodgrain is very nice indeed. I've sanded down the headstock and will leave the neck in a natural finish. Not sure on pickups, but it is a good tone wood. I mite get a tummy rout done when Perry does the floyd rout, the body is 6lbs.....

Looks cool. Clear coat over tung oil doesn't make sense though, does it?

Yeah, there's no need to clear it; the Tung oil is the finish.
Neat body, tho! I'm a fan of Perry and his work.

I have a 52ri tele that I'd love to have a floyd on, but can't bring myself to do it. Totally different thing going on with that guitar anyway.

I always liked the shredder teles...that one ought to be cool.

The Clear will seal the Tung Oil sort of hard to explain but I've done a few of these you will see the difference when I post the pic's. Now I just have to wait for Perry to come back from his USA trip.

I've cleared over oil, myself, but it's not necessary unless you want it glossy.
