  • Old Pointy Ibenhead day!

Heres the XV500 ibanhead I snagged today. She has some serious battle scars and the pics make this WAY better than it is. I am debating attempting an original refin on this but I am not sure.
I have learned they didnt make to many and they seem to be worth some bucks. Ill snag strings tomorrow and mess with it. The trem is a behemoth no idea what the neccessity of it was since its overly complicated and really lacks useability.
    Without further ado.....

If anyone here is good at refins and wants to shoot me a price let me know, the tips have some serious paint missing etc. Theres dings galore, but its all there and no cracks etc.

That thing looks neat. You should get a Mike Learn warbird graphic done on it!

Gorgeous ! I always wondered over pre vai era Ibanez. Ever since they signed Vai they had dropped the roadstar series in late 86 early 87 as well as the x series and some other rarities like the ibanez destroyer. The RG550 came out with the jems and did well so they never looked back. I wonder how it plays. does it compare to an RG? Funny thing is i always thought the Edge tremolo came in with the RG's, but it was actually first designed on the roadstar models and you can still find some 86's and early 87's with them

Wow, there's a rare bird! Never seen one in the flesh. Takes me back to when I used to drool over my collection of Ibanez catalogues. (Remember the '85 one with the stack of white guitars on the cover? - everyone must have had a copy of that one!)
Great score, looking forward to seeing the "after" pictures.

Oh, and be careful with those pickups, they'll pull out your fillings!

Didn't they call that the Pro Rock'R trem, or something like that?

I've got a beat up Pro Rock'R in my parts drawer. The potmetal baseplate is actually warped downward under the middle saddles from the string pressure. That one looks to be in good shape. Be very, very careful when you change strings or tighten anything down on that trem, because it'll strip if you even look at it wrong.

Go to the JEM site and check if you could sell it there.I'll bet you can make a few bucks on that one and not turn a screw on it.

I snagged it with another guitar it was an added boni. It came with a soloist. Kind of a deal they made me if I wanted it and I passed the day i got the soloist then I went back and got it.

I had an aria Pro II ZZ Deluxe in the same color that I let go some years ago as a kid. It reminded me of it so I went back and snagged it.

I dont know what I want to do with it yet. Ill prob sell it if its worth the money and ill put it towards something else. I have a project JTX im working on as well as an RGT42 that im making into a monster. Plus were moving in a few months and more cash cant hurt.

That guitar sat at this shop for 5 months no one touched it. Surprised CARR didnt get it??

If you're selling that anytime soon shoot me a pm.

I've had two x series destroyers, dt250 and dt350 (most aesthetically pleasing star guitars out there). I kept the dt250 and sold the 350. The x series are great guitars except for the shit trems. If ibanez made a neck through hard tail x series shape as a prestige I'd be all over it. I didn't even know about the existance of this model. It looks like steffan kummerer's custom ran might have been based off of this shape.

actually I think Westone had a guitar that he copied the shape from.
