    Nice family Cuthbert!
I would love to try one of those Brian May woodchoppers.
Can you get "that tone" with it, or what?

THE tone?Yes, BTW my amp is a Vox AC30, therefore I get something very similar to Brian's sound, the only problem I have with that guitar is that with the 0.08 strings (other important feature of May's sound, you have to use very light strings with very heavy plectrums) the guitar doesn't stay in tune too much...the angle of the headstock is limited (like in Brian's), the tuners are locking in name only.

Personally, I toyed with the idea of replacing it with a kahler like with the first issue of the Guild Brian May, it's a bridge I like very much, but the work won't be easy and BTW since this is a limited edition I'm afraid to spoil the instrument.

Maybe if you're interested I can try to record a sample of some tunes from queen, ogre battle, now I'm here, tie your mother down...these sort of things, and pubblish it on the board.

        That would be most excellent!
        Please do.
        Would love to hear it.
The Vox must be the other half of the secret formula...
I mess with my Digitech pedal, which has some Vox options, and I can "approach" the evil tone in question... just can't quite nail it.

I wasn't aware that he was running .008 gage.
        Yikes, that's thin.
Methinks if I grabbed one of my 2mm Dunlop picks and whacked it, the string would simply break... does he use a very soft touch?

Brian uses .008s and a old english six pence coin instead of the plectrum, hitting the strings straight or oblique is the way he gets some cool rhytmic effect like in hammer to fall, if the .008 don't break under a piece of metal, don't be afraid...personally I use a stubby 3 mm because I cannot play that fast with the coin.

Ok, I've 2 files, the intro of now I'm here, with front and middle pickup in phase, and the solo of tie your mother, with PUs out of phase, the quality of the record is shit, I took them with my cellular phone, anyway it gives a idea...how can I post clips on this board?

I have always wanted to try one of those 10 stringers. Cool guitar.
                  Just one more guitar!

                      They are...interesting.

It's a strange sensation to play it, BTW the nut is 43 mm and the guitar is spaced as a 6 strings, therefore if you don't want the additional 4 strings, you can simply strip them, and it works like a "normal" guitar.

Playing a 10 strings as a soloist is quite tricky, and requires some time to get used but in the end you can shred if you've patience. Personally, as sound, I use this guitar for classic rock lik "Kings and Queens" by Aerosmith, something from Led Zep (the song remains the same comes out VERY well), and some songs from Guns's roses, like nightrain.
