  • Jackson Bolt on Necks

Jackson uses the Fender style bolt on method or design to attach the body.

Some companies (such as Ibanez) use a different design to enhance access to the upper frets. These designs however usually result in less wood and mass at the neck joint.

Logically it would seem to me that all things being equal that less mass at the neck joint may cut down on things like tone transfer, resonance and sustain.

    Anybody know anything regarding this?

sounds like you're referring to a scalloped heel before the actual neckjoin, thus the neckplate sits flat and is at the same height as the main body. i whinged about the lack of one on my wrmg elsewhere on this forum. it does however sound as though it has more sustain than my previously owned dxmg. a more practical test would be a dk2 vs a dx10d because the bodies are the same shape.
