  • Let me pick your brains about Fusions....

Okay, several questions here. I have a stiffie for another Fusion. I have a Fusion Pro EX. It's the bottom of the bottom in Fusions, but I still totally love it. Therefore, I'm thinking that they can only get better as I move up the chain.

    So.... the questions:

Did any of the imported (Professional) Fusions come with neck binding and/or sharkies?

Is there a good reference somewhere explaining what model had what features?

By the way, here's my EX:

Not to nitpick, but you have the Fusion EX, the Fusion PRO is another animal which coincidentally has a bound neck.

Other Fusions with neck binding are the:
Fusion HH (? The picture I have looks like it has binding)
    Fusion USA
    Fusion XL

When I'm done with the MoAIP, it will include the Fusions.

The early 1990's Fusion Professionals are the best. They all had ebony boards, mop sharks and Jackson logo, bound neck/headstocks, active Jackson electronics, Schaller JT-590 trems, and poplar bodies with optional flamed maple top/backs. These guitars are so nearly identical to the USA Fusions of the time you could never tell. Some of the Japanese Pro models actually had a thinner (can you believe that?!) neck profile. If you can find a Fusion USA with Mike Eldred's stamp on the neck it will be by far the best playing Jackson neck you've felt. Newc sold me a Snakeskin Fusion and Mike's name was on the neck, it's like sex...

I see. Yeah, I keep forgetting that there was a Pro version, while all of the imports were Professional Series.

I know, but what I mean is that among the imports, there was a Fusion Pro as opposed to the other Fusion models.

Heres a pic of my 90 fusion pro, flame maple on both front and back, ebony board, sharkies, MOP logo, on board active Wah control, schaller trem, this is what got me hooked on fusions, these guitars are just about on par with the US version, (sorry about the dark pic, I gotta take some better ones)

Todd, you sure that picture isn't of a Soloist Pro? The Fusion Pro didn't have a knob in the middle, it was the mini toggle for the envelope filter. And, the Fusion Pro didn't have a covered bridge humbucker.

Yeah, the HH is a fun guitar, I got a battle scarred one for 100 bucks, trans red mahogany, put in some EMGs (85 b, 89 n), I play it way more than any of my nicer fusions, It is no where close to the Pro or US model in terms of quality, but for what they are you can't beat em.
