• Has anyone tried these "string saver saddles"?

They have a Floyd Rose version of these that I'm considering - I'm curious what your experiences have been or just whether or not you think they'd be worth it. I don't break strings very often but when I do, it is always at the lip of the saddle on my Floyds.

They work as Advertised on my CS Dinky (V-Trem)... "Tone Drainer" isn´t the word I´d use, they warm up the tone a but , bue other than that I´ve found no adverse effects whatsoever.... Guitar actually seems to sustain better as well as being slightly more resonant and "woody" than with steel saddles...

Haven´t ever had a customer complain about them, either...

Sully,

If the papers and research is right, they are far from tone drainers.
The composite is more sustaining than even brass, and is more dense I believe.

I had won a set on the Fender Players Forum back in 99 or 2000. (The only contest I've won in my life that was based on odds/entries).

I had a nice strat at the time.. it was stolen from me...but..for reminiscing purposes I'll go into details...

98 American Standard Strat, rosewood board, Aqua Marine Metallic finish (beutiful)....
Perloid pickguard...3 Fender/LACE Gold Lace Sensor pickups..Fender/Schaller locking tuners...

The American standard bridge/trem.
So I put those GraphTech String saver saddles on after I won em...broke em in...and swore by em ever since.

Didn't know they made em for Floyds. I'll try em sometime.

Since the Floyd is a locking system, the lubrication function of the saddles wouldn't be used much. But the softer string surface, would keep ya from breaking strings..and lets say since its more sustaining/dense than brass.. ya may get a boost to that affect.

About a month before my strat got stolen.. I finished trickign it out..
I put Fender/Roller Nut, and the hipshot tremsetter.

So, looking at the trem system... lockling tuners...roller nut.. lubricated string trees, and the lubricate function of those String savers...and the tremsetter...

I never went out of tune. I could ride it pretty hard too...almost as hard as a floyd (seriously). Took abour 3 weeks to break in to that stability.
Those saddles make a world of difference on those tremolos...

<font color="aqua">Well, with a 45 day money back guarantee, buy em, play the crap out of them, and see if they make as huge a difference as they claim. Then come back and fill us in!! </font>

Warranty under 5 years only apply to the "go-getter" type.

could be different from what i had, i guess. i still have them here. when i put them on the TOM, i did notice that the sustain wasn't as long and the tone wasn't as bright, so i swapped them out. ymmv.

Sully,

I think you may have yourself a Pre-Pro set.

I've got them on almost every guitar I own with a hardtail or standard trem. I just installed a set of the new "Ferraglide" on my white Jake E. Lee and my Brian Setzer Gretsch 6120 SSL came with String Savers. I'll have to try them on the Floyd's now that they have them!

Tone drainers is the furthest thing from my opinion on these. I used them on a mutt strat with a vintage trem and they upped the sustain and volume significantly. I think they are one of the cheapest, most simple upgrades that you can make to a guitar.

I've also used them. I can't say they added any sustain, but they did sound a lot warmer and cleaner. I hate that "tinny" sound. I may try some of the Floyd ones, but I have to wonder about the string locking screw threads. Seems like they would strip out rather easily (unless there's some kind of metal insert in there).

Yep..socialist societies are less concerned with working more than enjoying life, and have more time for constructive, bright, open ideas...instead of worrying about "Damn, If I slave my life away this month, I might have enough hours to not worry about my expensive shitty medical insurance of I get sick".

Socialism punishes the creative, inventive and hard working. There's no bonus to excel, there is a bonus for being really lazy though...

Work hard to have everything taken away, or be lazy and have it all given to you. Hmm... I actually like that. lol
