the low e seems to be a bit toneless on it. Guess i have to restring it .

Yeah, sounds like your low E string is dead and just needs a new one. That happens once in awhile. I noticed that on a couple of guitars I bought, mostly the Hamer I just bought off Pete. I restrung it and it's all good now.
